BACHILLERATO EXCELENCIA EN IDIOMAS
BE INTERCULTURAL, BE INTERCONNECTED... BE BREXIT

“The lecture was about the consequences, the country of origin and destination and the reasons why immigrants and refugees have to leave their homes. The war, the natural disasters, unemployment or poverty force them to travel to the richest countries of Europe, such as Germany. Many immigrants and refugees are not accepted but nobody should be illegal anywhere; due to this injustice, English is used as a language of protest.

The United Kingdom doesn’t want to accept the refugees or the migratory European policy so they have decided by referendum to leave the EU.

The explanation was magnificent. We could argue, watch videos, write our opinion and made a poster with a slogan. Mine was a collage with images of the refugees in the border, the UK flag and Winston Churchill turning his back on a dead Syrian child on the beach with the question. “In the name of liberty?”

It was our first time at university…I wish we could have had more time…In short, it was very complete and interesting…”

Emilio Ferrero

“It was fantastic for me. We listened to a great talk about immigration and Brexit…all of us were familiar with the topic so we could speak about it. I loved the way the professor encouraged us to participate.”

Daniel Hernández

“…I attended a lecture about two current topics such as Brexit and the refugees. It was very interesting as both are controversial and have a great importance for us. The lecture was very interesting and clear.

Apart from what the governments can do, we as individuals can take part in, at least, one of the topics that is the acceptance of refugees.”

Arancha Ferrín

“… We were told basic things we need to know about Brexit and migration. We used the computer to practice and did exercises related to this topic; we made a poster in pairs.

I think it was very interesting and amazing. We could all practice our English…”

Clara Vecino

“Before the lecture I didn’t have a clear idea of what Brexit was. The professor encouraged us to participate all the time, which made the workshop more dynamic and friendly. All of us had the opportunity to practice our English in front of the class…”

Cristina Miguélez

"The topic was very interesting… refugees run away because there is a conflict in their countries and we don’t let them live in our countries, it’s disgraceful…”

Victor Melado
